Hi! I’m Alok Adhikari. I am the Doc Lab Director at the kimff Foundation where I run the Kathmandu Doc Lab. My career has been defined by a passion for film, particularly in the documentary space, where I thrive on bringing compelling narratives to life, both on screen and through strategic programming initiatives.

Most recently, I’ve had the immense privilege of spearheading the establishment and successful execution of the inaugural Kathmandu Doc Lab at the kimff Foundation. Prior to this, I served for five years as the Assistant Festival Director for Film Southasia, a prominent biennial documentary film festival in Kathmandu.

My hands-on experience extends to video editing which is still my first love, my first introduction to the craft of filmmaking. I’ve built a strong foundation in post-production beginning as an Assistant Editor at VICE Media in New York and moving on to edit non-fiction shorts and TV shows here in Nepal. Academically, my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College, Santa Fe, a rigorous, all-required curriculum, profoundly shaped my analytical and critical thinking abilities.

I am driven by a commitment to long-term creative partnerships and approach professional experiences with honesty and a collaborative spirit, always seeking to explore complex narratives.
